Coach Level 2 – Club Founder/Treasurer

Chris founded the club in 1977. Since then, he has taken the club from strength to strength and introduced hundreds of people into the world of amateur boxing.

Chris is a Level 2 Coach and an England Boxing official (timekeeper, judge, referee, supervisor). He has dedicated nearly 40 years to promoting the sport within Droitwich and the surrounding areas.

Charles Delve

Box Positive, Level 1 ABA Coach

Charles began boxing for the club in 2005. With Chris Andrews's guidance he went on to become the 2008 National Junior ABA champion, 2008 GB U19 champion, 2009 British Universities champion, 2010 Midlands Senior ABA Champion and represented England on numerous occasions, holding wins over the Canadian, Commonwealth and German champions. Charles is also a former sparring partner for world champions Tony Bellew and Nathan Cleverly.

Charles began coaching with Chris Andrews in 2008 within PRU's and schools. He is now an Occupational Therapist and began using boxing as an evidence based therapeutic intervention within a variety of mental health and neurological settings.

Charles set up Box Positive, an organisation that helps people to combat Parkinson's symptoms through non-contact boxing.

Paul Matthews

Level 2 Fitness Instructor, Club Webmaster

Paul is a Web developer and is the director of the local digital agency "Steak Festival" based in the town centre of Droitwich and has designed and built the club's Website.

With over 30 years of Web, desktop and app development experience and over 10 years experience as an Army reservist, Paul has recently found his passion for fitness again and is now an avid Box Fit member and spends most of his time either at Worcester's Be Military Fit bootcamp or at the boxing club, either taking part or helping with the sessions.

Paul is a qualified Level 2 Fitness Instructor, working towards Level 3, member of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) and delivers the fitness aspects of the Box Fit sessions.

Sophie is an ex-Droitwich Boxer and England Boxer.

Hayley Sherry

Club Welfare Officer

Hayley Sherry is the clubs welfare and safeguarding officer. Hayley has been a police officer within West Midland Police for 19yrs completing various roles from response officer to the neighborhood and also working within inner-city schools with a diverse mix of students.

Hayley comes highly experienced in working with young offenders in an effort to try and divert them from away from criminal activities such as gang crime while also protecting youngsters from Child sex exploitation and Drug Running Grooming rings.

As a Detective Hayley now deals with serious crimes involving both young offenders and hardened re-offenders, we at Droitwich ABC are honored to have such a well educated and experienced member of the public sector on board to protect and safeguard the welfare of the clubs members.

Parents Association

For the first time in its history, Droitwich ABC has introduced the services of Squad Boxer Parents who work closely with the club, an important role in keeping morale high and the club moving forward.

Without their hard work and dedication to the club, it could not function in its current smooth motion. Everyone involved in the committee of Droitwich ABC would like to thank the DBCPA (Droitwich Boxing Club Parents Association) for the commitmnet in helping the club move forward.
